POLAR BEAR

POLAR BEAR

Polar bears might look quiet, but they can make some interesting sounds!

🎶

Chuffing: Mama polar bears make a low, soft chuffing sound to comfort their cubs. It’s like saying, “Don’t worry, I’m here!”

Growling: Polar bears growl when annoyed or want to warn another animal to stay away. The growl is deep and rumbly, and it lets others know the bear means business. Polar bears usually growl when protecting food or space.

Roaring: If a polar bear gets angry—like during a fight—it might roar. A roar is super loud and scary!

Hissing: When polar bears feel nervous or scared, they sometimes hiss, almost like snakes. A hissing polar bear is saying, “I don’t like this! Give me space!”

Whimpering: Polar bear cubs can’t use words to tell their mom they’re hungry or need help, so they whimper instead. It’s a soft, high-pitched sound that means, “Mom, I need you!”
